Our very own apprentice Chef Sarah Jones, together with Adrian Holds from Adelaide Oval has achieved national recognition in Australia’s longest running and most credible culinary competition for young chefs.
The young chefs cooked-up silver medals their entrée, gold medals for their main and bronze medals for their dessert course at the finals of the 2019 Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award at Fine Food Australia.
The pair particularly impressed the judging panel with their main course of sous vide lamb saddle with braised lamb neck pastry, cauliflower purée, pickled beetroot, mint peas and demi glace.
2018 National Finalist, Sarah, was proud to be back in the finals representing her home state alongside her new teammate Adrian.
“We were excited, organised and pumped. It’s been such a great experience and we’ve really enjoyed the atmosphere, cooking in the public arena is a real adrenaline rush. It’s a great competition to be involved in, it’s not like anything else.”
Celebrating 54 years in 2019, the Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award exists to support the country’s top emerging culinary talent and has helped develop the careers of over 7,000 talented young chefs since its inception by providing young chef talent a platform to create new opportunities, learn valuable skills and connect with peers in the culinary industry.
