Upgrade for National Wine Centre
Wednesday 25 May, 2022
The centre will be temporarily closed for six weeks from Saturday 11th June, reopening on Monday 25 July 2022.
New, improved lighting and new flooring in the main Hickinbotham Hall are features of a $13 million upgrade of the National Wine Centre.
Once complete in late July, the award-winning centre will be more sustainable, events-focused and technologically advanced.
General Manager Simon Burgess said the renewal works would help the centre build on its reputation as a high-quality event, conference venue.
“It has been a challenging couple of years, but we are now seeing increased enquiries and confidence returning to the event, conference and convention markets,” Mr Burgess said.
“We have been actively promoting the National Wine Centre and Adelaide as a destination for national and international conferences.
“These events tend to have a long lead time which means we’ve been able to highlight some of our new and improved features, including lighting effects.”
Upgrade works will begin on Friday 20 May, with the centre to be temporarily closed for six weeks from Saturday 11th June, reopening on Monday 25 July.
Mr Burgess said the temporary closure would help to minimise disruption to visitors and staff.
“We’re looking forward to showing off our new features and welcoming people back to the National Wine Centre, our many wine events and functions and Wined Bar from late July.
In 2021, the National Wine Centre was awarded SA Venue of the Year (under 500 guests) by Meetings and Events Australia.
The centre also was named Best Meeting and Events Venue – Specialist at the SA Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence, and won numerous awards for its catering.
