Wine (290)
Coonawarra, SA

Deep purple in colour, the nose has intense fresh blueberry, blackberry and liquorice aromas, with subtle graphite/Vanillin notes coming from the oak. Bottled early, to be enjoyed when it is young and fresh.

Coonawarra, SA

Red plum, Raspberry, florals and a hint of oak spice.

Head Somm James Boden says: “Kate Goodman and Laura Hansen are the winemakers at the helm of Penley Estate and their take on classic varieties in the Coonawarra shows the talent of these two ladies. The Chertsey is the Bordeaux blend in the line-up with a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz. Classic Coonawarra eucalypt notes with dark fruit and layers of spice and texture. It is looking very good with a few years of age under the belt too.”

Coonawarra, SA

An interesting experimental wine from an icon of the Coonawarra.

St. Hugo Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is the O.G label of St. Hugo which was first made in 1980. This wine is as close as you can get to the Macquarie dictionary definition of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon; 'Notes of cassis and mint with underlying meat and bay leaf, this wine has firm but seductive tannin'.. or something like that. Enjoy!
